Is Optoma HD20 still the best 1080p for under $1000?

Hi, I haven't been here in awhile. Back a few years ago the Optoma HD20 was the buzz for budget 1080p. 1080p is all I want, I could give a crud about 3D. Is this projector still the best bang for the buck? If not please suggest other brands/models. Thanks!

It's one of the better ones I've played with in that marketplace. The Benq W1100 another projector in that same ball park I've played with; I find the two projectors to be the leaders in this field. I think you can't go wrong with either, though the HD20 uses a bit older technology and so I find it to be a bit noisier and not as pleasing to view. But both do a really good job, and I think you'll be happy with your purchase.

There really isn't another big leap in projectors out there coming that I know of until next year; and then you're mostly talking next-generation 3D projectors. How much that changes the sub $1000 or around models is a difficult thing to know.

The HD20 is decent, but not the best under $1,000. The Mitsubishi HC3800 (refurbished) can be bought right now for $699 at Projector People, and it comes with a 1 year warranty. I have this projector and it is excellent. This is a GREAT deal, don't wait long if you're serious.

The HD20 is still one of the best projectors available, although the HD33 and the Acer H6500 are both worthy of a purchase also (at a reasonable price). Check out these projectors: http://www.projectorcentral.com/home-theater-multimedia-projectors.htm

Rob asked for "the best 1080p under $1,000" and right now it is the Mits. HC3800. Out of the link you posted, only 3 are 1080p and under $1,000. And the HC3800 is better than all 3 of them.
