Help! My TV has been appearing a little too dark for a while but I just thought it was the ambient light (summer time) so the other day I decided to get out VE and adjust it. I had to signicantly increase the brightness and contrast settings both in order to see the pluge correctly. Is this an indication that the TV is wearing out? It's only about 3 yrs old. Please give me some information.
    Thanks in advance.

It could be a number of things. I doubt the CRTs are wearing out that fast, unless you have had contrast cranked for 3 years straight, or have the set on 24/7. It's more likely something simple, like dust buildup on the lenses and/or mirror. Perhaps it's time to pull the screen off and dust off the lenses, or have a tech come out and do it. Simply cleaning the dust out can make a world of difference.
If it isn't that, then it could be components drifting, or the power supply is going.
