This has me puzzled, unless my JVC player is slowly dying...

I have a JVC xv-s65

Put in the DVD "Ronin"

Get a No Disk error.. (tried several times.. even after unplugging for minutes)

The DVD looks fine, so I try it in my PC..

Plays in my PC, but there's one of those PCFriendly popups.. so I'm thinking that is the problem..

Just to be sure I try it in my parent's' JVC xv-s65 model (same exact model I have)

The DVD works fine in that one.. wtf?

I'm not sure what to do with my player, cause this is the only DVD that hasnt worked besides The Royal Tenenbaums (it didnt work in any player I tried.. got a replacement disk)..

Does my player probably have older firmware, or just picky ?

It might just be a dirty laser pickup (but as to fixing it, is it still under warranty? Might want to have a tech check it out (but labor almost makes it better to just buy another DVD player these days).

What Pat said, plus the unit might need a firmware update. Why not call JVC's service line and see if there have been firmware upgrades. Did you get your player at the same time your parents got theirs?
