Well, the 4/22/03 release date is no longer at amazon.com either. This means at the very least a delay, if not a cancellation.

Is this the same How to Get Ahead in Advertising that Criterion currently has out?

Does anyone know if this will be a new anamorphic transfer, and what extras were planned?

MGM's announced specs were an anamorphic transfer (the Criterion disc was non-anamorphic) and a trailer (which is also the only extra on the Criterion disc).

The Criterion is out-of-print already? I only got it a year ago, at which point it had only been out for one year. That has to be the fastest going out of print for a DVD that I can remember.

    Edit:

I just checked over at DVDPlanet, and they have it as a pre-release coming out on 4/1/2003. I guess they are a little behind, as DVDEmpire has it listed as TBA. It is going for under $10 at DVDPlanet.

I received a press kit from MGM today that included a bright yellow sheet informing editors of a TBA street date on Bowling For Columbine. Below that message was this:

i read May 13th for the new date for Bowling For Columbine and I'm wondering if "How... Advertising" and "Checking Out," both of which were from HandMade Films, ran into licensing problems (I kept my Criterion LD with the original one-sheet art for "Advertising").

Not to engage in schadenfreude, but if those two got cancelled, it is likely another HandMade title, THE MISSIONARY, will be pulled as well. And seeing how that had been planned as a pan-scan release, I can't say that is necessarily a bad thing. [IMG]
