What are some good sites for used audio?
In addition to the hardware for sale section of this site, I, and probably many others, will recommend audiogon.com. I just sold some of my stuff there and I am an honest seller. Audiogon has feedback similar eBay, which would be the other place I recommend. It is fun trying to find bargains this way.
I have to reccommend AudioGon too. I bought some furniture via there with no problems, and I know people who've spent a fair amount of cash with similiar experiences.
besides audiogon, there is also:
jeff's sound values
Not to create an Audiogon love-in, but www.audiogon.com is a first-class site. I've bought and sold TONS there and have had nothing but first-rate experiences with great folks! The people buying and selling there are truly into this hobby. Are there some bad apples on Audiogon? I suppose there may be, but I have yet to meet one. Highly recommended.
I sold my Yamaha receiver on Audio Review's classified section.
I have not bought anything new in a very long time.
Do your homework, and ask a lot of questions.
Audiogon is a good site. I've also had good luck on ebay, but I always ask the following questions:
1) Why are you getting rid of it?
2) Works perfectly?
3) Any dents, dings, or scratches?
4) Non-smoking household? (Bought an amp from a smoker once. Every time I fired it up, my family room smelled.)
5) Includes original manual, box, remote, warranty card?
6) If there's a date code anywhere on the unit or box, what is it?
About half my gear I bought used. Great way to go "upscale" without having to spend "upscale" money.
I bought my Parasound HCA-855A from www.audiogon.com as a very first time, used, on the net purchase and would do so in a minute. Really, the person I bought it from was extermely pleasant and honest and the product was in the condition he described-perfect(oh, yeah...he double boxed it!!!).
