My ex-next-door-neighbor says she hates water and refuses to drink it. She hasn't has a glass of water in like 20 years. She just drinks tea and cokes and stuff. I'm amazed someone could live never drinking plain water. She can't be too healthy, can she?

Sure she can. Most of what's in her other drinks is.... water.

She is getting more than her fair share of caffeine, sugar, and other nasties in that coke, but she's still getting plenty of water.

I know those other drinks are mostly water but still... Coffee is mostly water and so is beer. It just doesn't seem like you could go that long without something bad happening to you.

Depends on your definition of bad. Not likely that you would simply drop dead on a diet of non-water, but your kidneys and your sugar levels might have other ideas. Of course, she could be very athletic and could eat up all those sugars but we don't really know that either. Still, water is still the best drink you can truly have without looking at any other factors.

She's basically over-working her body's filtration system by drinking liquids with all sorts of additives.

I, too, prefer my water in the form of a carbonated drink that has been fermented. Much better taste, and more kick.

I too wonder why she hates it. There's not much in it to hate! :)

I am drinking a bottle of water right now. I find the fact that they have a "Nutrition Facts" label on it rather amusing.

Serving size: 8 fl 0z (240 ml)
Servings per container: About 4

Calories 0 Calories from Fat 0
Total Fat 0g
Saturated Fat 0 g
Cholesterol 0mg
Sodium 0mg
Total Carbohydrate 0g
Dietary Fiber 0g
Sugars 0g

Whew, good thing I checked the content. :)

Yeah, she says she doesn't like the taste. I find that ridiculous. She's kind of a weirdo anyway so I guess it fits.

I also dislike water, I think it would be hard to hate it as there is nothing about it to hate. I just dislike that there is no taste. The only time I drink water is while playing sports and that is only if I forgot to bring gatorade.

[rant]I do HATE the thought of paying for water in a bottle. Coming from a fairly rural area of Canada I just can't understand why people just don't turn on the tap and get a glass.[/rant]

yes I have had bottled water and I think it is pretty much the same as tap water.

In Sweden I drank the water from the tap, tasted great. Here, it tastes like crap and I can't drink it unfiltered. I have a filter in the water dispenser in the fridge, and that water tastes great.

Of course, it's so dry and hot here that I often have to take water with me when I go out in the summer, and it's often much more convenient to buy it than to bring a bottle from home.

I don't hate water, but I find it hard to drink a lot it when it's not ice cold or if I'm not parched. I can drink WAY more Iced Tea than water even the unsweetened kind. For some reason, I almost feel like I'm choking when I drink a lot of water?

My grandmother told me that her father HATED water with a passion. He used to say "Water rusts the bottom of the ship"

Here, it tastes like crap
Is it well water? City water (no matter where you are) pretty much sucks.

This thread has put me in the mind of the Star Trek (TNG ?)episode where the alien refers to the crew as "bags of mostly water". :)

and doesn't Steven Wright do a joke like "Human Beings are 90% water...this means we're this far (he holds his index finger and thumb really close together) from drowning."

She's missing out on a great drink (IMO).

NOTHING quenches a big "I'm really hot & dry & need a drink fast!" thirst like a glass of ice water! Yum! :)

I don't hate water but I do have a problem with how it tastes out of the tap, at least in the town I live in. I can't drink it. I have a Brita pitcher that I use to filter the water and it helps a lot.

The water at my office is great, though. I drink that all day.

She is really giving here kidneys a workout with all that other stuff. Granted, its mostly water, but all the sugar, soluetes and other stuff will take a toll on your body. Do you ever look at the inside of the cup you drink coffee of tea from? Stained from tannic acid. I cant imagine putting something into my body that is used to tan leather. And ask her about her kidney stones. If she hasnt passed any yet, she will soon.
