I'm using a Canon G3 and need to convert some images.
Sure vitually any image editing software can do that. There's likely some freeware tools as well if you look.
Keep in mind that converting the format from JPEG to TIFF won't actually improve the quality of the pictures. (That may seem obvious, but ya never know. )
Aaron: Understood. I'm not looking to improve the image, just not degrade it any. This format (TIFF) is being required for a contest. Andrew: How bout' PhotoShop 5.0 LE? That's what came with my camera but I rarely use it. It's not real user friendly, if you know what I mean. Would I have any loss of quality by editing a jpeg and saving as a tiff file? Thanks for the feedback guys!
Just do a "Save As" in PS 5.0 LE and choose TIFF format, instead of the default. _Man_
Man: Got it! Do you know if I will lose any quality or resolution by changing the format to TIFF?
No quality loss by saving as TIFF. _Man_
TIFF is a lossless format. JPG is lossy.
Didn't know that. That explains why the file is so large now (3mb to 11mb). I played around with it last night. Thanks guys!
John, You should be able to save it w/ lossless compression (LZW I think) to help reduce the file size. It probably pops up a dialog to ask you if you want compression when you do the "save as" to TIFF. _Man_
I'll try that also. Thanks Man!
Irfanview does this VERY well, for FREE. www.irfanview.com Sam
