Have the Sanyo PJ Z2000 for about 3 months and so far I am not impressed with the PQ that I am getting have tried every tweak setting that has been posted on different forums and my own and yet it DOES not look as good as my prior projector for some reason or another and using a PS3, HD dvd A1 and have tried everything to get a decent picture like a 3d image or better then the std dvd.

The funny thing upgraded or I thought that I was upgrading from a Mitz 3000 720P that upscale to 1080I and that PJ had a better PQ then the Sanyo I am not bashing the Z2000 just stating my opinion. Since I am a current owner of the Sanyo.

My question to a calibrator or any one else is this, is it possible that I have a DUD of a PJ? and should contact Sanyo everyone is stating about a great 1080P PQ, yet my prior 720P played a better HD-DVD on 1080I then what I am seen on this PJ.

Thanks for any feedback.

I just upgraded from the hc3000 to the z2000, and I must admit your post left me shaking my head in amazement. The ONLY loss is the shadow detail and blacks. Otherwise my very recent upgrade to the z2000 has resulted in a much greater 3D effect, no visible pixel structure, slightly better color, and an overall quieter projector. Ive loved my hc3000 in the almost three years ive owned it (spent $1400 on it), but the $1500 z2000 I just got was a nice step up in almost all regards. I knew the difference in dlp and lcd when I bought it, and lower performance blacks is a small price to pay for such a nice resolution upgrade at a rock-bottom price like the z2000.

That is exactly what I am talking about, every one is stating how great the Zanyo is yet for some reason or another I can't not see the difference. Is it my set up at the PS3level, or just the PJ. It does play BR disk but not that much different to my Std DVD, so I know that it is receiving a good signal from my HDMI cable then my question that have been contemplating is it my PJ for some reason not showing it's potential, if so then the same question why, what is it, is it my set up on the PJ, or just a bad PJ but again how can it play BR disk and be bad????

I am not comparing the DLP to the LCD, I think that the Sanyo has good color for a LCD and all that.

Only input I can provide is my ps3 dashboard constantly flashes like its loosing connection (this goes away as soon as I launch a bluray or game) This only happens when I set the ps3 to 1080p...if I dial it down to 1080i or 720p, the dashboard is stable. Im thinking its because of my 50' monoprice dvi (converted to hdmi on the ps3 end) to hdmi cable struggling to pass that much info over that kind of distance. Since the issue clears up as soon as I launch a blu ray or game (and the pq is amazing), its not really bothering me. But I still watch my mits everyday, and the increase in 3D effect is very apparent when I fire up the sanyo. As long as you know your settings from the ps3 are correct, and you are not seeing a differnce between the mits and sanyo, Id ebay that sanyo bad boy and buy yourself several replacement bulbs for the mits instead. Hell, you know the mits is an outstanding projector...you know it will still be working for you years from now. I dont have the heart to sell mine, its been a trooper thats been put through hell in the years Ive owned it, and its still going strong in the bedroom ;)

You just gave me an idea to try it on a 1080i setting and see what it looks like. I am about to play Captain and Commander in STD DVD and then on BR and see the actual difference.

Yes my wife had advised me to hold on to the Mitz for a while longer and see what kind of technology was coming up in the late fall and then see what PJ would be a good one for our home theater room but could not pass the Sanyo rebates and sometimes the lowest end PJ is not worth it otherwise it would not have offered the incentives and on paper it suppose to be a better PJ, go figuire.

Forget about using other people's settings for your projector. That's about as useful as tits on a bull. Have you calibrated it with a calibration disc? If not, that's the first thing you need to do.

Have calibrated with Avia and DVE was hoping on watching Captain and Commander as stated above but found the Std dvd and the BR Dvd for Casino Royale,, just as good and the Std played good with excellent 3D pop but the picture was a little wash out then played the BR the colors were fantastic but no 3D pop.

So have to find the medium on the BR, so I can get the 3D pop then everything should be OK.
