Is it normal to see shadows while playing the Gameboy Advance SP? (1 Viewer)

I keep seeing slight shadows while playing games on my GBA:SP. They seem most noticeable when reading text. Is this a defect in my own unit or is it a common thing in every GBA:SP because of the light?

Unfortunately, "ghosting" seems to be a common aspect to the SP.
