is it me or are 2-disc sets disappearing?

I am no longer seeing 2-disc editions of THE ABYSS and PATTON. I know there are single disc editions of BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI and LAWRENCE OF ARABIA. Should I be worried that the incredible 2-disc editions of those films will be phased out? What's the story on this?

Well, Fox is phasing out a number of its two-disc sets and replacing them with movie-only, single-disc editions. It's strictly a matter of economics, though.

Then of course there are the 2-disc sets that make one wonder why they're multi-disc sets to begin with. THE OTHERS, anyone? The movie wasn't that long and the extras were short and terrible.

I know, I hate when you get a second disc but there is nothing on it. If you are going to produce a second disc and make us pay for it, fill it up with stuff.
