First of all thanks for all the replies to my last thread.

I've read quite a bit of advice on acoustic treatments. At first I was planning on installing them from day one. But I was suprised to learn that you can actually have too much sound deadening. So I was thinking I could finish the room and install DIY acoustic planels as necessary. Any drawbacks to this plan?

The room will be 12 x 26, sheetrock on all four walls, berber carpet, 7' 10" acoustic tiled ceiling on concrete.

    Thanks.

That's not a problem at all. It also gives you the chance to experiment with where and how much is needed.
