Ah...dedgumit! I'll be playing poker tonight, and will miss the show in HDTV, and will have to settle for a time-shift ReplayTV version of the episode. Sigh...

Well, the ads last night for "Ed" were just like I described them above... slo-mo footage of Ed looking loke a doofus, the annoying VO saying he has to choose between two women, while some random schmaltzy hit song played in the background. I still have no interest in seeing this show... :)

The ads are almost as bad as the previous ads for "Good Morning, Miami" when there was still a love triangle possibility going on. Those played out like some ad for a really cheesy soap opera with softcore porn undercurrents by the female voiceover.

or breaking up, set to that ridiculous vo NBC uses (you know the deep voice with the up-and-down melodics...) and to schmaltzy hit songs. Maybe the show was different than the promos?

Right when I was reading that post, the ad for Ed came on the radio, and the voice was there. I almost had my drink of water come out my nose just now. :D

To be fair, now that I think of it, Patrick has a point. If one would only look at trailers for some of NBCs shows, like "Frasier", "Friends" and "Good Morning Miami", they would all seem to be schmaltzy dramas rather than comedy. Sometimes they veer off into that, but they are constantly misrepresented by the ads.

Maybe I should've given "Ed" a chance. Well, too late now. :)

Ed is a weird mix of camp and drama all rolled up in a bowling alley.

Has some amazing dialogue, believable situations, and real human stuff going on. This would be a good series ending point, although I would hope for another few seasons. These are some great writers...

I will be more upset about this cancellation than I was about "Family Guy."
