Digital optical cables carry digital signals. You would not lose any signal if you use cheap ones? Am I right? Are there any reasons that you should go for those expensive cables?

You might want to try searching through previous posts for this. There have been a gazillion discussions on this very topic, which should provide you enough reading material for days.

The short answer is, "it depends", or, opinions vary. There are good engineering reasons for why you might not hear a difference, and good engineering reasons for why you could hear a difference.

Are there any reasons that you should go for those expensive cables?
As stated above, there are good engineering reasons to go for well constructed digital cables. In the cable world, like many others, there isn't much correlation between price and quality, so the answer to that is "No" - buying a cable just because it's expensive doesn't get you anywhere.

Take a peak at Lowe's Home Improvement. They have TOSLink cables at about $10!
