Is the new region 1 release of Cocoon 1 and 2 5.1 sound. The region 2 version is but only has a a trailer on it. The region 1 features a commentary and a few other bits. Thanx

    I have Cocoon and it's 5.1 DD.

Edited: Well, somebody updated DVD Profiler with the wrong information. I just checked the dvd and the sound is 4.1 DD not 5.1 DD.

    Thanx mate.

Strange that here in UK is 5.1 and yours in 4.1
I think I will get the Region 1 for the extra features.

Let's see now, do I encode the audio as 5.1 and encode the same mono surround track on both the left and right surround channels, or do I encode it as 4.1 which will tell the decoder to route the single encoded surround channel to the left and rights suround channels?

Either way, same effect, the mono surround channel is reproduced by both the left and right surround speakers.

So, the answer is that it really doesn't matter, in fact many older tracks with mono surrounds wind up on DVDs mislabeled '5.1'.

DVD Profiler doesn't have an option for 4.1, so they always end up labeled 4.1.
