My Laserdisc player says it'll play CDV's and my DVD player says it'll play Video CD's. Are they the same or what?

No, CDVs are CDs that have laser-disc formatted video on it, whereas VideoCDs have directories and MPEG files on it...
My broken LD player plays CDVs, my dad actually has one, its a CD/CDV...

Yeah, well, I was just curious. So what is the CDV? Is it basically a CD sized laserdisc, as in analogue?

Some 12" discs were also marked as 'CD Video', usually concerts or other music-type titles.
