Is CDV and Video CD? Are they the same thing?

    My Laserdisc player says it'll play CDV's and my DVD player says it'll play Video CD's. Are they the same or what?

    No, CDVs are CDs that have laser-disc formatted video on it, whereas VideoCDs have directories and MPEG files on it...
    My broken LD player plays CDVs, my dad actually has one, its a CD/CDV...

    Yeah, well, I was just curious. So what is the CDV? Is it basically a CD sized laserdisc, as in analogue?

    Some 12" discs were also marked as 'CD Video', usually concerts or other music-type titles.
