I have preordered this bad boy and am eagerly awaiting to pick it up from the Disney Store next week (with Fantasia). Anyways, is anybody else excited about this, the first Disney Platinum Title? From DVDFILE.COM's review, it looks to be one of the most packed Special Editions of all time.

I am so excited, that I am having trouble sleeping!!!! DVDFile seems to be the only site with a review up, but from what I hear, it is going to be worth the wait...plan on watching this baby more than once next week.

I am looking forward to picking this movie up. It is rather sad, but I have never actually seen this movie. I have seen clips of course but never the whole thing. Now that I have a son (just turned one) I will be picking up all of Disney's annual releases (assuming the reviews are good).

Mine's coming next week from DVD Empire with that Godfather thingy in tow. [IMG]
The four weeks from 9/25 to 10/16 have to be the best stretch of BIG titles in DVD History.

I haven't seen this in a while. I have a soft spot for many animated/kids movies, so I may check it out.
It is definetly a big part of film history, and it looks like a killer DVD set.
So, yes, I guess I am excited about this!

I'm getting backed up on Disney DVDs I need to buy. But I'm excited to pick it up as well. I'm also looking foward to Dumbo, even though I never really liked that movie. It'll just go with the collection.

Am I excited about the Snow White DVD?
This is one of the titles that I've been waiting for since the format premiered!!
I purchased the Disney Store pre-order (which included four lithographs from the movie and a free additional "Disney DVD") back in August.
So ... Yeah! Bring on that Magic Mirror!!!

I actually cannot remember having seen this movie yet, sadly.
I preordered and I'm really looking forward to seeing this movie. I usually like animated movies quite a bit.

I received mine last week (!) and it looks absolutely wonderful! This film from 1937 makes The Simpsons Season 1 (1990 or 91) look awful! I don't know if all the purists will approve or not, but I for one think they did a fantastic job on this DVD!! Any movie this old would be lucky to look this good (and any recent movies would be lucky to look this good too!!)

Yeah, but I hear it's not widescreen. Didn't Disney learn anything when they tried to release WONKA in Pan and Spammed?

Snow White is presented in it's proper OAR 1.37:1.

Actually, it is ever so slightly cropped as the standard TV screen is about 1.33:1. Just properly "anal"yzing the situation.

Peter: It's actually supposed to be 1.37:1 from the DVD specs. I'm thrilled if they didn't lose the .04, as I think that all 1.37 should be 1.37 and not 1.33 since modern televisions will have no problem with 1.37 and 4:3 TV owners won't notice.

If I remember correctly, back to my LD days, the reason that this film looks so good is that they actually digitized the entire film (back when that process was much more radical then today). They were then able to clean up defects, do a major color correction and then restore back to film. I remember seeing before/after shots in "The Perfect Vision" and the improvement was phenomenal.
