Sure they did, the original poster bought a CRT RPTV and asked whether 720p input was an issue on it. So basically you are arguing that he should get a 720p digital projector instead. That really brings a ton of other factors into play other than scaling; certainly digital technologies have advantages, but also disadvantages vs. CRT as well.

There are no 720p DVD sources yet. Only 480i DVD, which you can deinterlace & scale up to other scan rates. But it's still SD to begin with, you can't make it into real HD.

The source isn't the DVD, its the DVD Player. Since the 931 changes the resolution, its the source now...not the DVD.

However you want to define the semantics, the player is going to be limited by the source it is reading from. Upconverting an SD source doesn't make it HD. So he's not missing out on anything resolution wise on standard DVDs. The differences are going to be the differences between CRT RPTVs and whatever technology you would have him buy. He's not missing any detail on standard DVDs because of the 720p issue, because the DVDs aren't 720p to begin with.
