Oh, baby, and with The Shat-Daddy William Shatner at the helm, how can it not rock?

Well, I don't know if Kirk can top Kaiga, but he's an interesting choice.
Did I hear right that Todd English is one of the Iron Chefs American? He's a local Boston chef with three restaurants (my favorite being the oldest, Olives).

Olives at Bellagio in Las Vegas is awesome too!
Im not sure about Shatner but its worth giving him a chance, though honestly I doubt anything will surpass the pure wacky fun of the Japanese show, which was even better before with subtitles only.

Flay is probably happy with his controversial rematch victory and would rather quit while he's ahead.

I think Shatner has finally found the perfect gig.
When is this thing on anyway? This I've gotta see.

I just visited the website. I LOVE Shatner in the puffy shirt, arms spread wide for the adulation of the crowd... This is the role he was made for...(after Kirk of course)

Well, on the website linked to above, it says it's on Friday the 16th, 9 PM on UPN. I'm gonna watch it if I'm home, for sure.

I agree that Shatner is a good choice for the Host.
If they couldn't have gotten Shatner, Musberger (Spelling?)would have been a good second choice.

Bruce Vilanch (sp?) is one of the best comedy writers in the country. He writes for all the major comedians, and all of the major "event shows". He is often called in to punch up a script, and is so in demand that he turns down a lot of work.
Bruce wrote Billy Crystal's Oscar openings, Whoopie's Oscar jokes, all of the jokes on Hollywood Squares, etc., etc., etc. He is the most famous unknown comedian around.

I heard about the Shatner led Iron Chef, but I don't think the Captain of Cheese can save it. Americans have a tough time translating great international programming...thus our Survivor (which is stupid), Men Behaving Badly (which, thankfully is gone), Cracker (which I heard wasn't too bad, but nothing compared to Robbie Coltrane) and other game shows a'plenty (Weakest Link and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, thank you). They all suck and lack even the remotest bit of cool and class (or lack of it) that the originals had in spades. What we lack in creativity, we also lack in translating cool concepts. The only way I would watch Iron Chef USA is if a) its American "stars" are dubbed in Japanese and b) it has English subtitles. That at least would have some of the fun, but I doubt it will work. Entertainment Weekly (that bastion of great taste

) agrees with my prediction and said it sucked. Doesn't mean it will, but I look forward to the reviews on here.
