IRE Settings for capturing from Japanese VHS tape played on a US VCR? (1 Viewer)

I'm using a Canopus ADVC-100 to capture from a Japanese VHS cassette, but the VCR I'm playing it on is from the US. What IRE setting should I use in this situation? (0 IRE or 7.5 IRE)

0 IRE. The recording itself, on a VHS, sets the black level. This is different from a DVD player where the signal is rebuilt from a methematical representation: on LD or tape the signal itself is recorded as-is and the player just strips it from the medium.
