IR Repeaters and Receiver (1 Viewer)

Will IR repeaters work with any receiver or does the receiver have to have a special input/output jack in the back? I have the Kenwood VR507.

Straying ever so slightly off topic...

I have the Terk Leapfrog that transmits baseband A/V signal via telephone lines. Basically, it let's me use my HT in my bedroom (albeit with TV speakers and composite video).

The problem is that the IR repeater built into the unit does not work with my Replay. This is am older 30 hr Replay unit, not one of the newer Sonic Blue doohickeys.

Does anyone use an IR repeater that works with a Replay and does anyone have any theories as to why my entire HT, from Tivo to DVD to receiver interacts properly with the repeater but the Replay just sits there? I have literally put the transmitter next to the IR receiver of the Replay and still got bupkes.
