so im helping a PC-illiterate friend set up his new Ipod Video. I have a 4th Gen 20gig, and he also has a mini. Both work perfectly with my itunes, but with the new ipod video, Itunes keeps saying "itunes cannot readthe contents of IPOD. Use the updater to restore the IPOD to factory settings."

Ive tried, but I keep getting the same results.

    Any suggestions?

If your friend has a PC, it sounds like the iPod has been formatted for the Mac. You can tell the format by this:

Here's the procedure that needs to be followed, from Apple's support site:

    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60983

Your friend also has one incident, toll-free support if that does not work (unless you bought the AppleCare warranty, in which case you can get unlimited support.)

Oh, and if you have a Mac and the Video iPod, Handbrake is your friend...
