I have ordered my wife and I new phones to replace our iPhone 3GS's. Per the website we should have them on Friday. Pretty funny route they are taking. From China to Hong Kong to Alaska to Kentucky but I live in Seattle couldn't they have saved some time? Anyway look forward to getting my phone Friday.

I ordered my 4S yesterday (3GS replacement), so who knows when it will materialize (apple.com says Oct 24 ~ 31st).


I ordered late because initially I was going to wait until November for the factory unlocked version, but then I realized we could get an unlocked 3GS for $375 -- or $75 less than the $450 difference between a locked and unlocked 4S. Considering I do most of my heavy data surfing on the already unlocked iPad, a 3GS is just fine for travel -- and a big plus, it can be shared between me and my wife.

I'd really appreciate it if some of you could take pix of blue skies. A number of people have questioned the amount of noise in the red channel which actually shows up well in blue skies so that would help.

I'm very impressed with my 4S so far. (upgrading from a 3GS). Siri is fun to play with, but more important it's actually useful - like using it to set reminders in the car. The retina display is more impressive than I was expecting it to be. The camera trounces my 3GS's camera. and everything just feels snappier. Battery life is quite a bit better, too - except maybe when playing Words with Friends - that is killing it!

Definitely a worthwhile upgrade for anyone on a 3G or 3GS. Already on a 4...probably not so much. Siri is okay, albeit slow. The camera upgrade is VERY nice. The speed...it doesn't seem as dramatic going from the 4 to the 4S as it was from the iPad to the iPad 2. I do think the A5 is a significantly bigger battery drain than the A4....the battery meter on my 4S seems to take a nosedive instead of a gradual decline.
