Some nyc shots.
After owning for just over a week , I have a bunch of scratches on my 11 Max Pro already!!
I had my iPhone 6 for 6 years with NO scratches!
very angry right now.
And I take excellent care not to scratch. Lots of similar reports online.
Case or screen?
This now baffles me. Come on Apple. I can understand in the early days of iPhone, when there wasn't a huge body of evidence and data as to how people use their phones and what kind of physical contact they go through in an "average everyday life" of a phone, that sometimes they'd design something for aesthetics and, whoops, found out later it could scratch under normal use.
But we are many, many years into smartphones now. All manufacturers should know what sort of normal day-to-day contact they'll have with other things that can be in peoples' pockets. Keys, change, wallets, etc. There's no excuse to not making a moderately scratch-proof case these days, by Apple or by any other smartphone manufacturer. I'm just talking about normal wear and tear, not abuse or drops.
Screen. And I’m super careful.
You're not alone Tino:
Oh man, now that I hear that it's the screen, that makes this even worse. I thought it was the back paint job. Aren't they always bragging about "the newest Gorilla Glass" or the "most scratch proof screen ever"? This is a step backwards, apparently, if normal use is easily scratching these screens.
Yup. One of the scratches looks exactly like this.
I put Anker screen protectors on my 11 (and my wife's 10R) on day #1. Glad I did.
I also bought an Apple clear acrylic case that I picked up the day I picked up my 11.
It sure will be interesting to see how this plays out.
Something has gone very wrong if the latest iteration of Corning's Gorilla Glass is damaged so easily. Something is wrong in the manufacturing of the glass or something is wrong with the surface coatings.
Is there any sense of whether the scratches are in the glass itself or just the surface coating?
Mine is scratching but just in the rounded corners.
That's why I always recommend putting the phones in cases
Mine is in a case. It’s the screen that’s scratched. I didn’t use a screen protector on my 6 and it never got scratched.
Apologies. Did not realize it was the glass
No worries. I wonder if there’s anything Apple will do about this.
I'm not worried about it yet. I thought it was just be because I'm going caseless but it sounds like it might be a bigger problem...
On a positive note...
I’m going to try to post pairs of photos. The fist will be taken with my X and the second with my good friend Steve’s 11Pro. Here goes:
