I’m a fan of portrait mode. But it hadn’t lent itself to snapshots as I hoped. I have to me slower and more intentional to get them. So I’ve not gotten as many as I expected, but I do have some good ones.

@Ronald Epstein @Mike Frezon I’ve used portrait mode and liked it but never have gotten results as good as Mike’s. Those photos have a narrower depth of field then I’ve experienced with my X. I’m now officially lusting for the 11 Pro.

I’m still on an iPhone 6.

    11 or 11 pro.

Is the pro worth the extra $300

    I’ve heard not really.

I think trade in is only $80. :(

    Tino,

I would say if you are looking at the 11 line, go with the standard model.

What you are going to need to decide is how much storage you need and if you want the smaller or the Max size.

I personally love the MAX. No issues in the pocket and the extra real-estate is much welcomed as I do a lot of website/magazine/newspaper reading on the device.

Your post confuses me a little. Only the Pro has a Max, the 11 is one size only.

But think of all the $$$ you’ve saved over the years.

Oh. Sorry about that. That's how much I paid attention to the standard model. Had no interest so I never really paid attention as to whether there was a larger size or not.

    Sorry 'bout that.

Okay, well, then your choice is clearly the standard 11, that is unless you need a MAX size.

Got my iPhone 11 Pro - yesterday afternoon was a flop - the combination of T-Mobile on an annual update wasn’t available, but I got it this morning (512GB, Silver). Long line at a he UWS Apple Store, but I had a good conversation, and the old to new iPhone switch went very smoothly.

Now at T-Mobile trying to get our cellular Apple Watch services transferred to our new devices

So there’s an 11, an 11 Pro and an 11 Pro Max. Correct?

By the way, Ron. My transaction yesterday was easy-peasy.

Got to the story in my 9:30 to 10am window. I waited a couple minutes, they ushered me right in, brought out my phone (and case, I got the thin clear Apple plastic case) and I was all set. They took e to one of the techs who was helping people with their set-up. They did a simple set-up so I could use the phone and texting while running some errands with my wife, but when I got home to do my full restore of my phone off my laptop I had to reset the phone back to factory settings myself anyway.

The entire process couldn't have taken a half-hour. The place was hopping. But it was fairly organized chaos.

Johnny, one of the things which will help is to make sure your subject is a fair distance in front of its background. That gives the software a better opportunity to fuzz out the background and create the much-in-demand bokeh.

I took my images with an 11. Not an 11Pro.

So glad to hear that you were able to essentially walk in and walk out.

The Apple Store is the last place I would want to be during launch weekend.

It was really nice of Apple to do a simple set up for you. That's the advantage of going to the store and the added value of their customer service.

    Mike, enjoy your phone!

To add insult to injury, Verizon experienced a service outage in central and northwest Arkansas Friday where all cell and data was nonfunctional for several hours. A good friend of mine who works at the Little Rock Apple store said it just added to the chaos since no Verizon iPhone could be activated until service was restored around 5:30.

The reviews are unanimous that the iPhone 11 (not Pro) is the choice for most people. But if an extra $400 for a slightly better screen, a third camera, and more storage good to you, then get the Pro. :)

That's impressive! What other five year old computers do you have that retain 15% resale value? Back when I sold off old electronics, I assumed a 10% return and that was hassling with eBay and CraigsList. You're getting 15% with no risk and zero uncertainty. Turn that frown banana-side down!
