Here is an interesting hack I just implemented on my phone...

If you would like your phone to say a phrase whenever inserting a charger in your phone and/or placing your phone on its charger...

1. On your iPhone go to SHORCUTS app
2. Click AUTOMATION on bottom
3. Click + and create new automation
4. Create Personal Automation
5. Scroll down and select CHARGER
6. Make sure IS CONNECTED is selected
7. Click NEXT
8. In search bar on bottom type: Speak Text and then click on the result
9. In the SPEAK box, type the text you want

I typed: Your iPhone is charging Ronald

10. Click Next
11. UNCHECK Ask Before Running. (then click on DON'T ASK)
12. Click on Done

Hey guys, I just accidentally discovered a feature in the photos app. you can now “lift” a subject from a photo. If I hold my finger over an object in the foreground, it will be selected. It works like the Magic Wand tool in Photoshop. I wasn’t expecting that. It’s not bad And works well when there is a defined edge on an object. It had trouble with my hand, but the Fluke came out.

This probably is not a hack as it’s an iOS 16 feature, it was neat to discover.

Hi Nelson!

Definitely not a hack. It was one of the stand-out features of iOS 16. Glad you found it on your own. It's a game-changer!

It was definitely a surprise to find. I see it only works on an iPhone and not an iPad Pro.

This is huge! I’ve been hoping there was such a solution the past year and finally someone explained it!

To ensure you have a backup of your photos, you need to have Photos set to Download Originals to this Mac (and have space on your SSD for them all). Otherwise, “backups” will have a lot of placeholder thumbnails. And if your iCloud account barfs (unlikely but possible), you could lose many / all your photos. Discussion here:
