By use of my forceful mind altering tricks, I was able to pick this disc up a few weeks early, and I just want to reccomend this to anyone and everyone who likes weird cartoon humor. I'm sure a lot of you know about this show, so I won't bother describing it. But I do want to say that the discs are great, the packaging is nice, the colors and picture quality are excellent and the sound is great. The audio commentaries are hilarious and there is rarely dead air. I haven't checked out the rest of the bonus features (animatics and "Irken" subtitles), but I can already say that this disc will be well worth a purchase come May 11th.

Doing that is a real "hot topic", isn't it? Unfortunately, my mall came up empty. [IMG]

But yeah, go Hot Topic! Officially sanctioned pre-street date retailer, according to the friendly clerk at my Hollywood/Highland branch. Better hurry, they only have one left there... now.

Can anyone compare Invader Zim to anything else? I've heard good things about it, but have never seen it. From the little I've heard, I have a feeling it might be right up my alley...

Same. Best Buy will sell it for $15.99 everyday price (less if they put it on sale week-of-release) when it hits on 5/11.

Its a dark cartoon along the line of Tim Burton stuff, with dark humor and great animation. I really love that show! Its kind of hard to explain it, really.

Tim Burton is a good way to describe the humor tone. Really dark, off-beat, and hilarious. It is tough to explain though.

What is the show about? Copying and pasting from our listing, which I believe we got from the studio media materials:

I'll agree that the humor can be dark. On the other hand, I have no problem with my child watching it...lots of silly moments that will crack up any kid.

I remember channel surfing a long time ago on some random afternoon, and came in halfway on an Invader Zim episode on Nick, and was hooked immediately. "Tim Burton" was the first thing I thought of, and I thought that he even may have had something to do with it. Zim is the best show Nick has had in years, it's a shame they didn't know what to do with it. Sounds like Media Blasters came through though. (Did you guys hear that they own Giant Robo now? It might finally get to DVD after all these years.)

I saw this disc out in Sam Goody as well. They had it for $5 more than Hot Topic (no surprise there). It looks like an easy choice to add this to my collection. How are the extras on the dvd?

The commentaries are very full of life w/ little dead time. It's just obvious sometimes that it was (badly) edited. So that feature gets a thumbs up, the rest however, I haven't checked out. Nothing too special. Animatics and stuff.

I can't wait until I watch the "take your parents to school" episode. That was the funniest fifteen minutes I had in a long time.[IMG]
