I plan on purchasing a set of paradigm studio 40's
the guy that I buying them form said he rewired them
with DH Labs sivler sonic speaker wire....My question is
since the engineers designed the speaker with the wire they
use how much different can it sound?

the short answer is none. Nada. Zilch. Forget about it. assuming the soldering job was good he probably just replaced wire for wire which will typically just be the wires running from the crossover to the driver
you gonna get a chance to see those speakers before you turn over the cash? If so, i'd ask to take a look inside to see just what kind of wiring job the guy did...neat..sloppy. i guess he did it because he 'thought' he could improve upon the 40's in an audible way. perhaps he truly believes it, perhaps he just wanted to do it. who really knows? i believe those wires are silver plated but possessing some special characteristics...well..hardly.
i hope you're paying a reasonable price and not something a little higher because of what he did. its one of those perceived value things that's not real value...its just perceived as such.
