I’ve got an interesting essay on the pretty lousy system that is Siri Shortcuts. But I don’t know this topic per se will have a lot conversation. And, generally, I sometimes find an interesting article to share but no good thread to post it. So, I’ll try a catch-all “essays worth reading”. If you follow the same blogs I do, these will look familiar, but maybe you didn’t take time to read it. And similarly, I hope to find to articles from you. And then the conversation will go where it goes, punctuated by new suggested readings.
So, here we go...
“Except that’s not really true. That is how Apple likes to market the feature but it’s a twisted form of reality. Shortcuts are not making Siri smarter, in fact they are dumber than pretty much anything Siri has done to date. Shortcuts put the burden on the user to do the legwork of synthesising data sources and integrating the apps into the voice service.”
