I know there was a great deal of excitement in some circles (myself included) with Intel's upcoming LCoS chip's, if for nothing more then to push the technology ahead and drive the competing formats to improve and drop in price (DLP, etc)
Unfortunately, it seems Intel has scrapped the LCos chips, claiming "the cost of research and development necessary to produce the product wouldn't be worth the potential revenue", as taken from:

Opinions? Do you feel this will be a major blow to LCoS as a mainstream technology for the time being? Or perhaps give competiting technologies the chance they need to snatch up the market segment?
