I just received an older Tablet PC to tinker with and was wondering. Is there any software available that will allow me to use it as a Universal Remote Control and control devices using the IR Port?

I am using WinXP Pro for an O/S. Thanks

EDIT: Nevermind, it looks like the Infrared port on tablets/laptops is too weak to communicate over great distances, dang it.

Sorry for wasting space.

Actually Harold, my laptop has quite a powerful IR port on it, I would just have a really hard time using it as a remote with how everything is arranged (screen, IR port on the side). With a tablet pc though things are a lot different.

Here's something you can mess around with (it's made for linux but there's a windows port): http://www.lirc.org/
