Although I sometimes appreciate sci fi horror—Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Alien(s), etc.—this one didn't work for me. There were shards here and there of a possibly good sci fi horror movie, and Alexander Skarsgard and Mia Goth give it their all to try bring this to the next level, but the screenplay just didn't seem finished. From my pov it needed some different writers, about a dozen more drafts, a much bigger budget, and probably a different director. YMMV. My rating: C. But my admiration for Skarsgard and Goth actually increased by the time I left the theater. I think they are both better than this movie, and I look forward to their future work.

I just saw this and I think @TravisR will really like it!
I saw it on Sunday morning* and I did indeed really like it. It's certainly not a movie for everyone (even I was disturbed by parts of it) but Skarsgard and Goth are fantastic. She seems happy to continue to be in smaller movies but Goth is a wonderful actor who should be in A list studio dramas.

I saw someone on Twitter say "That was the R rated version?!"

* Ironically, there was a church group that had rented out a theater to hold their services in a few theaters down from where I was watching it. Probably for the best that they didn't walk in.
