not extremely encouraging.....only asking because there is a refurbed pr. sitting at ~$420.00 right now.....seemed decent for a $2000.00 pr of speakers.
British mags typically don't like 3 ways. They usually term them "uncommunicative". What Hi-Fi did a review that described a similar type of sound but came to a more positive conclusion. At $420 the pair I'd say you have nothing to lose to try them.
I'm amazed Infinity is unloading these already. You're looking at the ebay auction, obviously. There'll be others to come along for sure. For some reason Infinity seems to be pulling the plug on these after a very short time on the market.
There can be any number of reasons they're pulling them. Personally, I really like Infinity speakers. It seems "fashionable" to bag on all but their highest-end speakers (and then to point out what they cost) but I like 'em. If you like them and see them at a good price, I say jump on it.
What I absolutely *ADORE* about them is that they will give less than glowing reviews. American magazines have alot to learn. I'm sick and tired of reading that every product on the market is excellent in every respect.
The reason I've heard given for this is that the British magazines tend to be supported more by the subscribers and by dealer advertising, and not by manufacturers (at least in the old days) which is why they have to be less "diplomatic".
