I see someone selling this sub on ebay for about $1k delivered. Is it worth it or should I stick with SVS or Velodyne.

I honestly don't know much about the HPS sub, but a grand will go a long way at SVS (especially if you have or can get an inexpensive amp). If you like the looks (which I do), seems the SVS line has got something for everyone from $500 on up (if you go used, you should be able to get an SVS and power it for around $400). And they look better in person than they do in pictures, FWIW [IMG].

These have been going on ubid (refurbs) for lots less than $1000. Check it out as they periodically pop up. www.ubid.com

That price is way too high. Watch ubid and be patient - I got a NEW HPS-1000 for less than $500. I'm very happy with it for music and HT. My room isn't too big - 15x15x8; it gets down to 20hz just fine. I did need bass equalization because I had major peaks at 70hz and 30-45hz, however, I think that was a function of my room and not the sub.

Like others have mentioned, if I was spending $1000 I'd look at the 16hz SVS units.

    FWIW, my .02....

Thanks for the feedback. I think I'll just stick with SVS. Too much good stuff said about them that can't be ignored.[IMG]
