Infinity BU-2 possible upgrade (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have an Infinity BU2, which are run with a Marantz SR6200 receiver and Klipsch synergy speakers. I find the bass boomy in my set up with a lack of low end extension (It can barely cope with a 35 Hz signal, though the supposed -3db mark is 28 Hz.) I however listen to music and watch movies at below reference levels and would like to have sharp, percussive and extended bass with minimum overhang. I tried putting foam plugs into the port which tightened up the bass a bit at the expense of extension.

My questions are given the levels at which I listen, would changing the sub help? If so, what would you suggest for under $500? Alternatively, are there any tweaks to make my Infinity sub sound good?

I don't recall the BU2 having a particular problem with 'boominess' so playing around with placement in the room is probably your best bet. A good trick is to put the sub in the listening position and crawl around on the floor looking for the best sound. When you find the place, put the sub there.
