I have been thinking of picking up the R0 2-Disc set of Infernal Affairs since I cna get it for a good price, but then I saw that a 8-disc set exists, with all three films and a 5 hr chronological cut of the series. I am thinking of picking this one up, but am wondering, is it R0 or R3? Several sites say R0, but others say R3 Koreandvds.com says R0, and they are sometiems correct since I have ordered from them in the past.

Can anyone comment on the set, or give me more details about it?

It's a beautifully packaged set; it comes in a big black plastic box that the top lifts off of. One drawback is that none of the extras are subtitled, so the interviews and such are useless for the non-native speaker. I haven't watched the chronological cut yet though, so I can't comment on it. Oh, and there is a binder full of material (all in Chinese, of course) about the films with a variety of photos, and a mini-poster.

Is this set Region 0 or Region 3?

Region 3. The set can be had for ~US$100, but shipping will be hefty (expect to pay an additional $20-30, depending on the e-tailer).

    Damn

I thought it was Region 0. Looks like I will have to upgrade to a Region Free DVD player sometime soon. I would like to pick this set up while I can. I know koreandvds.com has it for around $90, but like you said, expect hefty shipping. Also, can anyone comment on the overall quality of the set, such as A/V, supplements, etc?

I want to pick this up, but am wondering if it would just be easier to go with the R0 2-disc set that is far cheaper.

I also saw that other box sets of this series exist, with 4-discs or so and deulxe packaging. Can anyone commnet on these as well?

The set is listed as Region 3, but is actually Region 0. It will play in an unmodded American player.

Thanks for the info. I may seriously consider picking this up now while it is available.

Can you give me any other comments about this release, such as the quality of the various discs?

Five Start Laser also lists this set as R0.

Does anyone know who might be the best to order from, as far as reliability is concerned, or who might be the cheapest? Thanks

I've had only good experiences ordering from dddhouse. Shipping to Europe has been problem-free.

They ask US$108.97 for the boxset. As far as shipping goes I don't know how much this set weighs, but here's how they calculate the shipping-cost to North-America

    1 copy HK$30/US$3.84,
    2 copies HK$50/US$6.41,
    3 copies HK$60/US$7.69,
    4 copies HK$70/US$8.97,
    5 copies HK$80/US$10.25
and then HK$10/US$1.28 add to each additional copy, from the 21st copies HK$8/US$1.02 add to each additional copy,
before go to payment gateway, customers will see their orders shipping cost.

Or you could get it on ebay from this guy. 99$ + 25$ in shipping. Sounds like a good deal to me, and the guy has a 100% rating

That 5 disc set is coming out soon without the fancy box for half that price.

Mark, where have you heard this? Will it include the 5 hour cut?

Sorry, looks like I misread it. It's 6 discs of the first three movies. They could be the 'remastered' discs from the 8 disc set.

    Infernal Affair 6 disc box

I'm sure the Chrono cut will follow soon.

So does the 6 disc set have the exact same versions of the movies as the 8 disc one?
BTW I'll second the dddhouse recommendation, I never had any problems with them.

The Korean edition appears to be better.
