Yeah, I agree with everything you said.

Neither Oxley nor Mac added anything to the story (especially Mac, in my opinion). It was nice to see Marion again but her character could've used a little more edge (or, at least a re-write as you said).

If the film had kept up the momentum of the first hour or seventy minutes, I think it would've been a GREAT Indy film.

They need to acknowledge the age thing and make some adjustments to the character, otherwise the character feels like a hollow shell of his former self.

Indy IV was the first Indy film where Indy sort of just felt like set dressing at times.

Agreed, Oxley was a bit better than Mac. I got a distinct Jar Jar vibe from Mac at times...he just did cartoonish things that were loud and obnoxious.
