I'm looking to buy ID4 and contact on DVD(yes..I don't own them.) and there seems to be alot of versions of ID4. Which is the best version? No jokes about the quality of the film! I just want to know which has the best audio, video, and extras. Thanks!

For ID4, the Five-star version I believe is the best but I think the newer 2-disc version is just a repackaging of the 5-star version.

As far as Contact, I thought there was only 1 version?

The single-disc "limited edition" is the only one that is remastered in anamorphic/16:9. It does have 2 commentaries, and contains both the theatrical and extended versions of the movie, but none of the other features found on the previous 2-disc versions.

Oops! You're correct. I was thinking of THE ABYSS (another Fox title which had the same release pattern of 2-disc SE, re-release 2-disc SE in new package, then single-disc versions.)

THE ABYSS, I believe, was mislabeled as 16:9 on all versions, but in fact has always been 4:3 letterbox.
