Depending on the specifics, I’d be interested. The only Kubrick I have on BluRay is A Clockwork Orange, and I think it needs an upgraded transfer (very lackluster colors, and a bit soft in contrasts, in my opinion).

If it's a 4K release it will be the only one, won't it? ;)

I have the 'other' collection with the psychedelic artwork. The transfers in that one were questionable. I've already pre-ordered The Shining in 4K and own the Criterion Blu of Barry Lyndon, in addition to owning all of the other Kubrick's on Blu - including the Spartacus remaster - and frankly, without further info this just seems like another money grab reissue with lackluster cover art. It's like the James Bond reissue box, that in no way was as classy an affair as the Bond 50 box set. Now, if everything herein did make the leap to 4K, that would be a whole new ball of wax to reconsider.

It most certainly is. Looking forward to finding out when they make the announcement, but I'm not holding my breath.

Seems odd to repacking the existing discs when there are already 4Ks for 2001 and The Shining.

Seems late in the game for yet another Blu-ray box set. Doesn't seem worth hyping it up if it's just a re-release/repackaging. 2001 is already on 4K. The Shining is coming soon. And there were rumors of A Clockwork Orange hitting 4K this year as well - a 4K scan premiered at Cannes years and years ago. It's Eyes Wide Shut's 20th anniversary so a 4K release of that would be apt. We know they have a 4K master of Barry Lyndon already done. That just leaves Full Metal Jacket and Lolita of the WB owned titles.

I doubt Spartacus, Dr Strangelove or any of Kubrick's early work will be included. Spartacus is Universal, Dr Strangelove is Columbia and the early stuff isn't popular enough to be of interest to Warner.

I expect the set will be a 4K upgrade for the usual big guns. I have the Blu-Ray Kubrick set and, although I've been happy enough with it, I recently felt moved to import the Criterion edition of Barry Lyndon (had to go for the DVD as the acquisition of a multi-region BR player would have made it prohibitively expensive - also grabbed the Criterion Five Easy Pieces while I was at it). Both are films that have left me longing for bonus material for years.

I'll be interested to see if they include bonus material for Lolita and Barry Lyndon in the new box set (audio commentaries would be particularly welcome). Both of those films have been tragically neglected while there has been a plethora of material for 2001, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, A Clockwork Orange and Eyes Wide Shut.

The set seems like strange timing

Feels like we should start getting more Kubrick films 4K disc not another box set of blu-rays.

Are we sure it isn't a set of books?

It seems unlikely to me that the entire Kubrick library would be coming to 4K UHD all at once and that all of the behind the scenes work necessary to make that happen was able to be done without even the slightest hint leaking out that work was in progress. It's not impossible, but I tend to be doubtful.

It looks to be all the movies he made at WB, which owns a few of his United Artists and MGM films. Spartacus and Dr. Strangelove are Universal and Columbia respectively and weren't mentioned on that website, so I don't think they'll be included in his box set.

WB does not own Kubrick's United Artist films. Those are currently under MGM's control.

MGM has Killer's Kiss, The Killing and Paths Of Glory
    Universal has Spartacus
    Sony has Dr. Strangelove
Warner has Lolita, 2001, Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket and Eyes Wide Shut.

Fear and Desire is in the public domain.

What am I missing? Other than The Shining carpet pattern I don't see mention of any films at all...
