I made the mistake of buying a 12" in-wall subwoofer that is not powered. My yamaha amp only has a hookup for a powered subwoofer. Does anyone know of a power amp for a passive subwoofer? I'd like to not spend a ton of money. I'd be grateful for any help.

Your best bet is to go to partsexpress.com and buy one of their plate sub amps. They will have a lot of power and some controls specifically for subs, plus they give a lot of bang for the buck.

I would go on E-bay and look for an AB International for around $300.00 bucks . Lots of power and bridgeable. You can check them out new on abamps.

It would help us more if you told us the manufacturer and model number. If you don't know that, at least give us the impedance of the driver and whether it is sealed or ported.

If it is a ported sub, then a plate amp like John suggested would work best since the amp has a sub-sonic filter built it. If the sub is sealed, then a mono amp like Philip suggests would work best. If it is an 8 ohm, sealed sub, there are some Behringer A-500 amps that would work perfectly.
