Looking for recommendations on what type speaker wire to use in my HT. I have typically not paid attention to whether speaker wire is UL certified or not but I want to do it right this time being that I am building this theater from scratch. Talked with my local retailer and he recommended Tributaries @ $4foot. Being that I need about 200 feet of this, I thought it was kinda expensive. I looked at Monster Cable and found some for about .75foot. Am I really going to notice the difference between these two types of wire? Any recommendations on a better wire for the money?

I’ll second Steve’s response. If you happen to be running in-wall for the front speakers you might use the Tributaries, but only if you believe high-priced cable make a difference. For the rear surrounds, however, use the cheapest 12ga. you can find.

well I just ran my wire, my speacialist told me that 14 is fine, 12 is overkill for my appication, so I used ultralink 14ga audiophile grade wire. very easy to work with, not to big. and much cheaper. I would have paid 1.00 ft for 12 ga. up here, but i got the 14, for .40 a ft. great deal on great wire. im pleased.
