My house is going to start construction soon and Im having a garage conversion for a dedicated HT. The room dimensions are approx 20x20x10..maybe 19x20 or so..My question is this.. I had planned on building a wall behind the garage door after sealing up the door. I was going to build the wall out into the room about three feet to recess my TV (65" 16x9) Would this br the way toi go ro should i just build the wall back and place the TV in front of it. My experience has been that having a big ol box between the front speakers was detrimental to the soundstage.. Bringing the wall out 3' also changes my room dimensions so not to be so square.. Any thoughts one way or another?

Brian,

The recessed TV would definitely look cool. However, if the main objections is to eliminate that “big ol’ box between the speakers,” you could accomplish the same thing by moving the speakers forward past the TV, as they would be if the TV was recessed.
