The character actor known for many distinctive portrayals (including the prinicipal in Breakfast Club, the police chief in the first Die Hard and the p.i./henchman in Trading Places) has died at the age of 67.

And I think it may be a sign of ageing, but I watch The Breakfast Club nowadays and I side with him!

He was a great character actor, one of the best.

I’ll have to get Trading Places and Breakfast Club on DVD I have Die Hard, but I just like that performance in the other two films, especially Trading Places and that gorilla scene! Bugger that’s gonna hurt!

Paul Gleason played football at my alma mater FSU with Burt Reynolds and Robert Urich.

He was one of those actors that mostly got the small or supporting roles, but he sure got a lot of those roles. He is probably best known for his Breakfast Club role as Principal Vernon, but he was in so much more, including a lot of TV guest spots. Hell, he was even in Ewoks: The Battle for Endor.

WOW! No wonder he never came into the casino like usual.

Paul was a frequent customer at the Orleans Casino, where I work.
I was wondering where he went to.

    very sad news
