Just saw over at DVD Reviewer that In Cold Blood is being released in the UK in August. One of my top 5 most wanted DVDs, I wonder if a region 1 release is being planned. I hope the Robert Blake trial doesn't make Columbia think twice. If so, I'll but the region 2 release in a heartbeat!

I don't know why such a classic is taking so long. Bring it on, Columbia. I guass a Robert Blake commentary is out, but I'm hoping for a few special features.

As I've stated in previous threads, Sony paid for a new film restoration of In Cold Blood and I was fortunate enough to see it in the fall of 2000 at the Motion Picture Academy theater. Robert Blake, Scott Wilson, Conrad Hall and Quincy Jones (along with Richard Brooks' widow Jean Simmons) were in attendance for a Q&A afterward that I hopes makes it to the DVD.

I need to see what the specs of the R2 version are like. If there are some nice extras I'll go with the R2. I don't think Columbia has the guts to release it in R1 any time soon.

    I found this: http://www.choicesdirect.com/templat...lerID=NDPC9146

    Features: Trailer

And in searching for both editions, I found that the prices are quite low, so it looks like a budget title. But as long as the transfer is of highest possible quality - from the restored elements, then I have no qualms.

I hope they're wrong on the Choices Direct link regarding the aspect ration, since it was 2.35:1. But otherwise, great news, especially the R1 announcement!

Thanks for the info Gordon, I can't believe Columbia is finally going to release this on DVD. I've waited almost 20 years for a widescreen version of this film on home video.
