This may be a function of buying HD equipment without getting an HDTV yet - I wanted a new DVR that didn't need to use a phone line like my faithful Replay, and the idea of getting one that could tune the HDTV channels my cable company delivers unencrypted was highly appealing. And they do look great - my TV's just an old widescreen Toshiba that can't even do 480p, but the downconverted HD channels look much nicer.
The trouble is, I can't get them to show up on the program guide. If I go to Channel 2 and hit "Ch Down", I can find channel numbers like 86.2, but the program guide doesn't list them. There are three options for my cable company - "Comcast Cambridge Analog", "Comcast Cambrige Digital", and "Comcast Cambridge Cable-Ready". I figure I might have it on the wrong one, but which would be the right one?
