An interesting tidbit, and right now, tidbit
    is all I can provide....
I have been asked by my source to keep this
very vague. I don't even want to put my
reputation on this news until I see it in print.
    However....
With all the flack regarding widescreen DVDs,
a major Summer release is going to be released
    to VHS in WIDESCREEN ONLY!
It is my guess that the Director had a lot
of pull in getting the studio to agree to this
    move.
Right now this information is still shaky,
but it comes from someone actively involved
at the named studio who is an avid reader of
    this forum.
It's just kind of funny that in a time where
ignorant consumers are boiling over widescreen
DVD releases, they are gonna be very surprised to
find that one of the biggest Summer films is only
going to be available widescreen on VHS.

    I would guess AI!
This is something we need to see more often from the other big name directors.

Is it safe to assume that this title will also be WS DVD only?? In that case I may just buy it on principle alone to support that thought process.

My guess for the movie in question is "Planet of the Apes".

I doubt the film will be AI because if I remember right that film was shown in the 1:85.1 ratio, so LBX wouldn't make that much diffrence on VHS. Besides should't that film be in Fullscreen only when released to video since it's a tribute to Stanley Kubrick. [IMG]

Does Michael Bay even care about presentation? He certainly doesn't care about the quality of the product! [IMG]
    I would also guess AI.

Look at Spielberg's History: His "Empire Of The Sun" (1987) was one of the first letterbox only LaserDisc releases. Kubrick was known to be a stickler when it comes to his preferred aspect ratio. My guess is AI.

Either A.I. or Pearl harbor. Nothing else would warrant it, as far the studios would think.
