My wife and I are moving at the end of May into a new home. I'll be setting up the home theater equipment in the living room in the following floorplan (or one fairly similar):
    Floorplan
My concern is that it's going to be an acoustical nightmare given that it is a fairly wide open space and has hardwood floors throughout. I'll probably put up a curtain to separate the dining room from the living room (which should also help acoustically) and put a area rug in the middle of the living room where the sofa/coffee table would go. Other than that, I really can't think of anything and was wondering if you guys had any input or suggestions.

    Thanks!

Furniture can help deaden the acoustics, especially sofas, loveseats, and armchairs. Rugs used as wall hangings and bookshelves filled with books can help too.
