I got mine this week for A$70 and no delivery cost. It was part of a 7 disc bundle, that others being A$35 each from the usual A$40 each. It is a high price for those single discs just the same.

This is from Lionsgate, the US Theatrical Version...the UK version is 12 minutes longer, but for this price it's a no brainer! Unless you really want the box set !!
Nice spotting John!!

This seems to be the way to go. Referencing the information above re the three versions, it appears that there isn't anything of great importance missing in the seven minutes. Those who know the long version, please correct me if I'm wrong.

The longer version has the backstory of Sgt Howie before he leaves for Summerisle. Character development is of great importance to me. The long version is my preferred version. I purchased the Imprint boxset.

I have to say I agree wholeheartedly with Ken. Howie's backstory is essential and tells us
why he was chosen for the island in the first place and sets up exactly how he is lured there, though we don't necessarily "get" that until the end.
I have the old Studio Canal set of the final which comes with an SD version of the longer cut and I always watch the opening sequence and then switch over to HD once he's in the air and the opening song starts. I'd love to have an HD version of the director's cut but until it's affordable I can easily live with what I've got.

I’ll live with the jewel case / wood box release and the $12 Blu-ray.

Yeah, I mean "my way" amounts to the exact same thing anyway since the "director's cut" is SD in both of those scenarios. In fact, the way you listed may actually be better because the SD is more than likely a progressive transfer on the DVD.

I purchased it too. The introduction of Sgt. Howie in the long version is standard definition, and it looks pretty bad on my projector before it switches back to HD. It’s a beautiful box with a lot of outstanding extras, but if you have that old Anchor Bay wooden box and the newer Blu-Ray of whatever they’re calling it, then you’re probably good. I say “probably” because I already had those and I’m very pleased with the Imprint box. Let me just add that “The Wicker Tree” can be safely avoided.
