Would any of you recommend buying import dvd's off ebay? I have noticed that occasionally someone will be selling a movie that claims to be in dts which isn't in dts in the region 1 versions. I asked the seller if this was a real dvd or vcd or what. He answered back saying it was an import version and works on any region player. Is there a website that sells all version dvds? Thanks for your time and help.

In general, if you know where to look, you can save money by buying directly from where the Ebay people are getting their DVDs. I believe most of the DTS releases come from Hong Kong or Korea (someone correct me if I am wrong).
You can try DDDHouse and Hivizone and see if they carry the DTS DVDs you are after. Shipping can be high, but you can reduce it by ordering several DVDs. Be sure to only order the DVDs that say they are all zone, unless you have a multizone player.
Check this thread over at DVDTalk. It has tons of information about HK dealers.
Good Luck,

Many of those dts titles on ebay are bootlegs. I just emailed a few of the sellers inquiring what region they are and which are anamorphic. I already received one response stating that his DTS Enemy At The Gates is Region 1... well we know that's a lie as Paramount has no DTS titles in Region 1. I've also seen a bootleg Daylight DTS DVD firsthand which has the exact same kind of banner across the front cover as all of those bootlegs. I reported some of them to eBay's fraud department a month or so ago but it looks like they've done nothing to stop the bootleggers. :frowning:

There are quite a few major title DVDs that were released in Japan in dts but not in Region 1. There are also a few in Korea. Most of the dts titles released in Hong Kong seem to be Hong Kong movies.

It should also be noted for any of those who are thinking that they'll buy a boot just to get a DTS track. The DTS tracks are FAKE. They use a player with analogue 5.1 outputs, tape those and make WAV files from the output. Then they just encode a new DTS soundtrack from those files which are sourced from the Dolby Digital

So what you're actually getting is a DD track with added analog and recompression distorition
