hi, i hope this is the right forum to ask about Directv.

i recently bought Directv with the Tivo and the Total Choice Premiere package.

my question is that i have a ton of channels that are "channel not available", for example CBSE and CBSW, i assume CBS EAST and CBS WEST. am i supposed to be getting these channels? or do i only get one CBS channel, my local CBS affiliate?

also i got NFL Sunday Ticket, what channels will that be on? are they showing any preseason games?

final question, is there a way to delete channels such as all the PPV channels i dont wanna have to surf thru when just starting at the bottom channel and flipping thru? there are so many channels, i dont wanna be wasting my time on having to click thru every channel not available and PPV channel, i would like to just delete them, unprogram them.

thanks to anyone that tries to help.

PS- everytime it rains now, the signal goes out for awhile, today for half an hour. i know weather affects the satellite signal but i thought they said it rarely happens. and it only rained lightly. is this going to be a very common problem?

It rarely goes out around here, usually as the leading edge of a thunderstorm passes between the dish and the satellites. Check signal strength.

As for the stations you mentioned, those are the national feeds for the Networks. You won't get those since you have a local.

The NFL Sunday Ticket will be on 704-717, but as part of the subscription you should get preseason games on 212 now.

Lastly, I think that most boxes will allow you to delete stations you don't want as you are flipping through. I know that all of my boxes do.

What the signal strength for all of your transponders? Losing the signal for 1/2 hour is a sign that there is something wrong. It could be that your dish's aim hasn't been fine tuned. You may have an obstruction like a limb that when wet, drops into the signal path. You may have a bad connection that allows water to seep in and disrupt the signal while it's on the cable.

Your dish's aim needs to be fine tuned. The signal strength should be in the 80's. The farther south you go the better the strength will get because it aims through less atmosphere. My signal strength is high 80's to mid 90's for CONUS transponders and 100 for my spot beam.

If there is no branches etc in the line of site you might want to nudge it a bit.
My sisters was doing the same and I moved it a tiny bit (1/8th inch maybe) and it jumped up to the 80s and no more rain outs.
If it gets worse, knock it back the other way.
You might put a mark where it is at 1st so you know where to go back to.
If it's too hard to get to; call them up.
