It has been a slow day at work today so I decided to compile a wish list of DVD's to give to my wife in case she ever comes across any. She always mentions that she doesn't know which movies I want to buy. Well, this has turned from a short "wish" list to a "every single movie I can think of and have to have" list. And I'm sure I will be adding more. A couple on the list I already have but want to replace with the anamorphic version. Anyway, here it is, in no particular order.
Do The Right Thing Criterion Edition
Brazil Criterion Edition
Traffic Criterion Edition
The Last Temptation of Christ Criterion Edition
Time Bandits Criterion Edition
Se7en Platinum Edition

I may have to start charging admission when people come over to watch movies with me. :D

That's a pretty long list...

I set up an Amazon.com wish list. Normally I use it to remind myself of a book, CD, or DVD I want but don't wish to buy right away for various reasons. My wife started using it to buy me Christmas and birthday presents because she knows it's a list of stuff I actually want.

Having a long list doesn't mean you'll buy them all. I have a wishlist of 261 released items, 131 confirmed "coming soon" items (with release dates set), and another 84 items merely "planned" or "rumored" (no dates set). That's 476 DVD SKU's we want to buy here...and nowhere near enough funds to cover them all!

So true.
When I showed her the list last night, she laughed. She tells me that I need to stop spending so much time on this forum, because I always find out about another DVD that I must have. :D I think she's right. :D

I don't really keep a list. I'm more an impulse buyer. I scan the pre-order lists and decide at that moment. There are quite a few DVD's available that are films that I love and every once in a while, I will just buy one or two, but I don't have any set list for it. If I ever sat down and made such a list, I would probably pass out when it was finished.

I don't have enough money to start making lists. Usually, maybe a dvd a week and it's usually a used or cheaper one.:frowning:

Actually, I've found it's more helpful to be married and have that double income, esp. when she earns a lot and you earn just a bit more than her. :D
Almost as good as the spare change left over from when I was 21, earning a retail manager salary, and living at home with my folks...

Usually if I rent a movie and wind up really liking it, I then go out and buy it.
That's EXACTLY how I feel, although our criteria of what constitutes a "must-have" film must be totally different.

I base a DVD purchase on rewatchable value. I need the movie to really move me emotionally (Shawshank, the Hurricane) or lift my spirits (the Natural, Rudy) or be hysterically funny (Dumb and Dumber, Swingers).

Hense, after 3+ years of DVD watching, my collection stands at a meager 34 titles.
